Habitat for Humanity of MetroWest/Greater Worcester has teamed up with Habitat for Humanity International and affiliates across the country as an official Veterans Build partner to serve U.S. Veterans, military service members and their families.

Veterans Build is an outreach initiative that seeks to provide opportunities for veterans and military families in five key areas:

Build: Provide home ownership opportunities to military, veterans and their families.

Support Critical Home Repair efforts which includes extensive interior and exterior repairs to health, life, safety/code issues.

Increase home accessibility through projects such as wheelchair ramps, widening hallways and doorways, adaptation of kitchen cabinets and other accessibility projects.

Preserve existing homes through exterior work including painting, landscaping and minor repair services.

Mobilize: Engage military members, veterans, families,  and supporters in volunteer opportunities which will assist build projects.

Employ: Recruit veterans for employment, board membership, extended volunteer opportunities and national service (AmeriCorps)

Educate: Provide access to financial literacy and home ownership education programs

Honor:  Support the courageous men and women who have served our country through events that will honor their service. These events include a military community build during the week of Veterans Day.

Operation Playhouse

Operation Playhouse Logo 2016Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester’s Operation Playhouse is a special volunteer event for groups and corporations to make a difference in their communities. Volunteers build, design and decorate children’s playhouses, which are then donated to local families and children’s organizations.

Operation Playhouse is an opportunity for groups to support Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester’s activities while also uniting employees in team building and boosting office morale. Employees will work together to communicate, cooperate and complete their playhouse(s) – and their hard work goes towards putting smiles on children’s faces and bringing joy into their lives.

There is a donation requirement of $2,500 – $5,000 per playhouse to participate. Funds help cover the cost of supervision, materials and allow us to further our mission of building homes, communities and hope.
