Current Projects:

21 Aetna Street, Worcester  Aetna Street is located across from Worcester Academy and is where Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester has started it’s five year plan to revitalize the Union Hill Neighborhood. This lot previously held a home that was unsuitable for occupancy,  it has since been demolished and is under construction to become a multi-family home.

68 and 72 Chamberlain Street, Holliston Ground was broken on March 11, 2016 for this project! Tree clearing has been completed, and building will start in the summer of 2016.

33-35 & 37-39 Main Street, Northborough This project will rehab six units in two buildings on main street into new, modern, and energy efficient units for four families in need of affordable housing. More information coming soon!

38 Aetna Street, Worcester  As part of our five year plan to improve the Union Hill neighborhood in Worcester, this will be our second home build project. This project is still in the planning stages, however, it is currently designed to be a three bedroom, single-family home.

Building Better: Earth Friendly and Sustainable Home Construction

At HFH-MW/GW we are committed to making our new homes as earth friendly and energy efficient as possible.

Our goal is two fold:

1) To enable our homeowners to operate their home cost effectively

2) To use enduring and sustainable products that are friendly to the environment

Strategies we use to consistently attain an Energy Star HERS rating below 60 include:

  •  6 inch walls
  •  Styrofoam insulation on the foundation
  •  Heavy insulation in the attic
  •  Energy Star rated appliances
  •  In Millbury, solar panels (donated by Alteris Renewables) for electricity
  •  All homeowners are also started with compact fluorescent light bulbs
